U.S. Navy Capt. (Select) Kurt William Juengling of Ashburn, VA, died of war–related injuries on Thursday, July 28, 2011. He was 46 years old.

Juengling was born to a Navy family at Sangley Point Naval Station, Cavite City, Philippines, on July 9, 1965. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1988. A veteran of the first and second Gulf War conflicts, he most recently completed a second tour in Iraq. His record of achievements included many personal awards including the Bronze Star. His untimely passing is attributed to injuries sustained last year from a roadside bomb blast in Iraq.

Capt. Juengling was commanding a Naval Reserve unit in Colorado Springs and was also employed with AT&T Government Systems as an architectural computer engineer.

His is survived by his wife, Jennifer; two children, Elizabeth and Robert ; his parents, Capt. (Ret.) Robert and Anita; and a sister, Lisa Hayes, all living in Ashburn.
